Total Points & Placing

If you have any questions about these totals below is an explanation on how these points are totaled.  Thank you to Melissa Gray for all her hard work on this!

This is an explanation of how to get the total points and placing.

There are 4 Divisions in Open and Youth Barrels.  5 Divisions in Open Poles.

1st place is worth 6 points.

2nd place is worth 5 points.

3rd place is worth 4 points.

4th place is worth 3 points.

5th place is worth 2 points.

And 6th place and on is worth 1 point.

And a No Time is worth 1 point.  A participation point.

Whatever division a horse and rider placed in the day they race.  And the division and points they accumulated are totaled up to place horse and rider in the division they have the most points in.  And then the horse and rider are placed in their division and points added up to get their place for year end awards.

EXAMPLE:

Jane Doe/Horse ran a race and placed 1st in the 1D.  That 1st place is worth 6 points.

Jane Doe/Horse ran another race and placed 5th in the 3D.  That 5th place is worth 2 points.

Jane Doe/Horse ran another race and had a No Time.  That No Time is worth 1 point.

1D=6/3D=2/NT=1  Total Points(add points up)=9 points.

EXAMPLE:

John Doe/Horse ran a race and placed 2nd in the 1D.  That 2nd place is worth 5 points.

John Doe/Horse ran another race and placed 3rd in the 4D.  That place is worth 4 points.

John Doe/Horse ran another race and placed 6th in the 2D.  That place is worth 1 point.

1D=5/4D=4/2D=1  Total Points(add points up)=10 points.

NOW TAKE THE HIGHEST AMOUNT OF POINTS IN A DIVISION AND THAT IS THE DIVISION HORSE AND RIDER ARE PLACED IN.

THEN ADD UP ALL POINTS and PLACE IN HIGHEST POINTED DIVISION FOR YEAR END AWARDS.

1D

1st Place           John Doe/Horse           10

2nd Place          Jane Doe/Horse            9
